Sperm donation is the process in which a person or couple receives donor sperm to enable conception through assisted reproductive technology. Sperm donors can be anonymous or known (a relative or friend).
Donor sperm is commonly used in cases of:
- an absence of sperm in the semen (Azoospermia)
- low sperm count, poor sperm motility and/or abnormal sperm morphology
- patients with genetic abnormalities
- same-sex couples
- single patients
The Main Line Fertility third party reproduction team is experienced in working with patients to choose the right sperm donor (known or anonymous) for them. They will be available throughout the selection process to answer questions and offer assistance to a recipient or known donor.
Known Sperm Donor
Our third party reproduction team will assist known donors with obtaining the required screening and testing established by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
Anonymous Sperm Donor
Our third party reproduction team has extensive experience working with many top sperm banks throughout the United States and abroad. Sperm banks offer pre-screened frozen specimens which can be purchased from these banks and shipped to our state-of-the-art inhouse laboratory. We are able to store the sperm until the patient is ready to use.
